Writing 'Drop-in' Therapy Sessions

2-5pm [ISM room, C stairs, Hatfield College]

Looking for some extra feedback on your writing? Worried you're making the same mistakes or that your arguments read like a deflated balloon? Afflicted with a bad case of procrastinitis or Writer's Block Syndrome (WBS)? Concerned by the fact that English isn't your first language but you don't want that to hold you back?

Then sign up for a 15-minute drop in 'writing therapy' session with one of our Junior Research Fellows and Durham post-doctoral researcher, Dr Ladan Cockshut, who also worked as an editor and writer for a decade before pursuing her academic career.  She'll look at your work, diagnose your problem, and prescribe some bespoke tips and feedback aimed at helping you improve your writing going forward.

To sign up, please email Ladan directly (t.l.cockshut@dur.ac.uk) and provide the following information:

  • your current year of study
  • degree level
  • the name of your course
  • what 'problem' area of writing you'd like to focus on during the session.

Appointments will be given on a first-come, first-served basis (up to eight slots available for this session). You will also be asked to bring along a sample of your writing on paper or a memory stick (1-2 pages is ideal).
